The National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) in Liberia has taken decisive action by suspending 22 tertiary institutions, ordering an immediate shutdown of their operations. Among the institutions affected are AVEEM ,Prevailing Word University,Cepres University,, Barshell University College, Christian University College, Modern University, Kollah University, and others.

Additionally, the NCHE has identified certain schools—such as Mertu Institute, GONET Academy, and PJSL—as illegal entities operating within the country without proper authorization.

For established universities like the University of Liberia, Cuttington University, BCTC, and Nimba University, the NCHE has set a one-year deadline for these institutions to meet the required standards; failure to do so may result in their closure.

This move aims to ensure higher education institutions in Liberia adhere to quality and accreditation standards.
