Bong County – The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Department of Blood Safety Program at Liberia’s Ministry of Health, has donated essential blood bank equipment to the C.B. Dunbar Comprehensive Hospital in Gbarnga. The donation includes a blood collection and mixer scale and a modern blood bank refrigerator, aimed at strengthening the hospital’s capacity to provide life-saving services.

Health experts emphasized that these supplies will significantly enhance the hospital’s blood bank unit, ensuring timely access to safe blood during emergencies. Blood banks are critical in healthcare, as they safely collect, store, and preserve blood for patients in need. In situations such as accidents, surgeries, childbirth complications, severe anemia, or malaria, access to safe blood can literally be the difference between life and death.

Upon receiving the donation, Mr. Enouch Kermue Darwolo Morris Sr., the hospital administrator, expressed sincere gratitude to WHO and the Ministry of Health. He assured the public that the equipment will be fully utilized to improve healthcare services and save lives at the government-run facility.

This donation forms part of ongoing initiatives by WHO and Liberia’s Ministry of Health to strengthen the national healthcare system and enhance the quality of medical services across Bong County and other regions. Such partnerships aim to ensure that hospitals are better equipped to respond effectively to medical emergencies and improve overall patient care.
