Government in Shame — Top Youth Official Linked to Heinous Rape

A storm is brewing at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) as Variety Online News reports it has obtained leaked audios allegedly confirming the rape of a 14-year-old girl, the daughter of the Deputy Chief of Security.

The shocking allegation directly points to Deputy Minister J. McGill Bryant as the accused perpetrator.

If proven true, this would represent one of the most disgraceful scandals in recent Liberian history — a senior government official accused of preying on a minor linked to his own ministry’s staff. The case has already sparked public anger, with citizens and activists demanding Bryant’s immediate suspension, arrest, and prosecution.

Critics say this latest scandal underscores Liberia’s deepening crisis of sexual violence, corruption, and impunity in high places. “How can a government preach youth empowerment while its own leaders are accused of abusing children?” one activist blasted online.

Neither Bryant nor the MOYS has released a statement, but pressure is mounting for the government to act decisively. Many warn that failure to do so could erode what little public trust remains in the administration.

Liberians are watching closely — will this be another cover-up to protect the powerful, or the moment justice finally prevails?
