Nimba County Senator Samuel G. Kogar has revealed that Liberia’s Vice President, Jeremiah Kpan Koung, is seriously ill, a disclosure that has stirred nationwide concern about the health of the country’s second-highest-ranking official.

Senator Kogar made the revelation on Thursday evening while appearing on Spoon Talk Live, a popular current affairs program broadcast on Spoon TV. In the course of the discussion, he briefly mentioned the Vice President’s health condition but declined to provide details regarding the nature of the illness or Koung’s current medical status.

The statement immediately ignited intense debate across social media platforms and within political circles, with many Liberians expressing both shock and worry. The revelation has also fueled calls for transparency, as citizens await an official statement from either the Office of the Vice President or the Executive Mansion.

As of press time, no official communication had been issued to confirm or deny Senator Kogar’s disclosure. The lack of clarity has left room for speculation, further heightening public anxiety about the Vice President’s wellbeing.

Vice President Koung, who hails from Nimba County, is regarded as a prominent and influential political figure. A long-time ally of former Senator Prince Y. Johnson, he has risen to national prominence as a key voice in governance and policy-making. His absence from public view in recent weeks has now drawn fresh scrutiny in light of Senator Kogar’s remarks.

With the Vice President’s health status still unconfirmed, Liberians continue to wait anxiously for official updates. The unfolding situation has underscored the importance of transparent communication from government authorities in order to quell public speculation and reassure the nation.
