Voinjama, Lofa County – A 20-year-old man, identified as Massaboi Johnson, has been formally charged and forwarded to the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court in Lofa County for the alleged rape of a 4-year-old boy in Mada’s Town, Voinjama District.

According to police reports from the Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS), the incident was promptly reported by community members, leading to Johnson’s immediate arrest. Authorities say the case underscores the critical role of community vigilance in addressing sexual and gender-based violence.

Inspector Richard Armah Mulbah, head of WACPS at the Lofa detachment of the Liberia National Police (LNP), confirmed the development, noting that the act allegedly committed by Johnson falls under sodomy as defined by the New Revised Penal Law of Liberia.

Following preliminary investigations, Johnson was officially charged under Section 14.70 of the Revised Penal Law, which criminalizes such offenses. He is currently being held at the Voinjama Central Prison while awaiting trial.

Meanwhile, the 4-year-old victim is undergoing medical treatment and is receiving psychosocial support. According to Gender Supervisor Madam Dedeh Karmoh, the child remains under close care to ensure both physical recovery and emotional healing.

The case has sparked anger among residents of Voinjama, many of whom are demanding swift justice. Child rights advocates have also condemned the alleged act, stressing the need for stronger protective measures for minors across Liberia.
