Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) has announced a landmark economic partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco, a move expected to strengthen bilateral relations and accelerate Liberia’s industrial development.

LSEZA’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Prince A. Wreh, recently held discussions with the Moroccan Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Houssine Rahmonie, on potential areas of collaboration. Talks centered on renewable energy, small and medium enterprise (SME) growth, tourism, agro-processing, and workforce training—all critical components of Liberia’s economic diversification agenda.

Chairman Wreh emphasized that the agreement marks a significant step toward local processing of Liberia’s natural resources, creating sustainable jobs, and attracting new investment opportunities. He underscored that partnerships of this nature will help Liberia shift from a resource-exporting economy to one that generates added value through industrialization.

For his part, Ambassador Rahmonie reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Liberia, describing the initiative as part of Morocco’s broader vision to strengthen South-South cooperation across Africa. He highlighted Morocco’s achievements in renewable energy and industrial growth as models that could be tailored to support Liberia’s development goals.

The partnership comes as the Liberian government seeks to maximize the potential of its Special Economic Zones framework to stimulate private sector participation, enhance infrastructure, and promote sustainable growth.

Analysts believe this collaboration could mark a turning point in Liberia’s development trajectory, potentially positioning the country as a competitive hub for trade and investment within the subregion.
