KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Former Al Ahly and Liberia national team striker Francis Forkey Doe has made a sensational return to competitive football after seven years on the sidelines. The 38-year-old has signed a one-year contract with Wan Tendong Stable FC, a Malaysian Liga A1 Semi-Pro side, marking a new chapter in his storied career.

Founded in 2022, Wan Tendong Stable quickly rose through the ranks of Malaysian football, earning promotion from the third tier to the Liga A1 Semi-Pro Malaysia, the country’s second tier, last season. The club currently sits second in the standings after recording one win and one draw from its opening two matches.

Doe’s move is a familiar return to Malaysian football, a league he knows intimately. Over the years, he has represented six different Malaysian clubs, scoring more than 100 goals and earning two Golden Boot awards — one in the top division and another in the second tier. His prolific scoring and charismatic presence made him one of the league’s most recognizable foreign players.

His last competitive appearance came in 2018 for Pahang FA in the Malaysia FA Cup against Kedah. That match ended abruptly for Doe after just 12 minutes when he sustained an injury that ultimately forced a lengthy absence from the game.

Now fully recovered and determined to prove he can still compete, Doe’s signing has generated excitement among Wan Tendong Stable supporters and Malaysian football fans alike.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity to play again. Football has always been my passion, and I’m ready to give my best,” Doe said after his unveiling.

With his wealth of experience and proven goal-scoring ability, Francis Forkey Doe could be the spark Wan Tendong Stable needs in their push for promotion to Malaysia’s top tier.
