VOINJAMA, Lofa County – In a major boost to grassroots security efforts, more than 300 Community Watch Forum Officers today, August 15, 2025, graduated from a three-day intensive training program conducted by the Lofa County Police Detachment at the William V.S. Tubman Hall in Voinjama.

The newly trained officers, drawn from various towns and villages across the county, will serve as a vital link between the Liberia National Police and local communities. Their primary role will be to assist in community policing, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas where regular police presence is limited.

According to police authorities, the training focused on basic security techniques, conflict resolution, human rights awareness, and effective collaboration with law enforcement agencies. The initiative is aimed at enhancing public safety and promoting stronger community-police partnerships.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Lofa County Police Commander emphasized that the presence of Community Watch Forum Officers will significantly improve early crime detection, mediation in local disputes, and the reporting of suspicious activities. He lauded the trainees for their commitment to serve and urged them to remain disciplined, vigilant, and law-abiding.

Local authorities and community leaders attending the program described the graduation as a “milestone achievement” in strengthening peace and security in the county. They expressed optimism that the officers will help deter crime, build trust, and ensure safer communities for all residents.

The initiative aligns with the Liberian government’s broader strategy to empower communities to take part in maintaining law and order while fostering national unity. For residents in remote areas of Lofa County, the deployment of these officers represents not just increased security, but also a stronger sense of partnership between citizens and law enforcement.
