The Liberia National Police (LNP) has dismissed Patrolmen Edwin T. Ceasar and Stephen B. Wanawon from the Police Support Unit (PSU) after an internal investigation confirmed their involvement in misconduct, abuse of authority, and unsatisfactory conduct.

According to a press release issued Thursday, August 28, the officers’ actions were found to be in direct violation of the LNP Administrative Instructions on Discipline and Professional Standards, as well as the 2016 Discipline Regulations.

The decision followed a comprehensive administrative probe conducted by the Professional Standards Department, which concluded that both Ceasar and Wanawon had engaged in acts deemed criminal and inconsistent with the professional ethics of policing.

As part of the disciplinary action, the two former officers have been removed from active duty and turned over to the Criminal Service Department for further investigation and possible prosecution. The move underscores the LNP’s determination to strengthen accountability mechanisms within its ranks.

“The Liberia National Police remains committed to integrity, accountability, and respect for the rule of law,” the statement emphasized. “Such measures are necessary to restore public trust and ensure that the force serves with neutrality, professionalism, and respect for human rights.”

The dismissal highlights the LNP’s zero-tolerance approach to misconduct within its ranks and reflects a broader effort to rebuild public confidence in law enforcement institutions across Liberia.
