The Minister of Internal Affairs has with immediate effect suspended several local officials in Lofa County for allegedly violating the government’s moratorium on all Sande activities. According to a report by Voice of Lofa, the suspended officials are accused of allowing or directly participating in Sande bush practices despite a standing national directive halting such operations.

The moratorium, aimed at addressing human rights concerns and ensuring adherence to national laws, has been in effect for months, with warnings issued to all counties. The Ministry says the action taken against the Lofa officials serves as a strong message that no one is above the law.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspended officials could face further administrative or legal consequences depending on the outcome. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law across Liberia.
