Sanniquellie, Nimba County – A heated dispute has erupted between Nimba County Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono and Senator Samuel G. Kogar over the management and accountability of the County Social Development Fund (CSDF).

Senator Kogar is demanding a comprehensive audit of Superintendent Gono’s administration, alleging that portions of the CSDF have been misapplied and diverted from their intended purpose of directly funding community development projects in health, education, and infrastructure.

Speaking during his donation of a 40-foot container of medical supplies to the Nimba County Health Team, Senator Kogar underscored that the fund was never meant to finance government-led initiatives.

“The County Social Development Fund is not intended for government projects. It is meant to impact the lives of our people directly… this must be investigated,” the senator declared.

Superintendent Gono, however, dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. Responding on her official Facebook page, she challenged the senator’s audit call while accusing him of attempting to gain influence over county resources.

“Call for your audit! I challenge it!! But you will never, I mean never, be susu pa for Nimba money at County sittings,” Gono wrote.

Her reference to the Liberian term susu pa—a trusted custodian of money in local savings clubs—suggested that Senator Kogar’s push for an audit was part of a broader bid to control the disbursement of funds during County Council sittings.

The public exchange has sparked debate across Nimba. Some citizens support Senator Kogar’s demand for transparency and accountability, insisting that audits are necessary to ensure proper use of public resources. Others believe Superintendent Gono’s defense reflects confidence in her stewardship and a rejection of what they view as political maneuvering.

As the dispute unfolds, political observers warn that the controversy could heighten existing tensions in Nimba, Liberia’s second-most populous county. Senator Kogar has not yet issued a formal response to Superintendent Gono’s sharp remarks, leaving citizens eager to see whether the matter will escalate into a broader county-wide showdown.
